Love Grows

Evening all, it's been another scorcher here today, I've been out in the sun this morning until the postie delivered my new stamps, then I had to come in and ink one up :) . I have been inspired by this weeks "Cute Card Thursday Challenge" whose theme is Sketch, either a sketch from another challenge or your own. So I have attempted my own (hoping I've not subconciously copied ayone elses).

So the image i have used is "Love Grows" from "Lili of the Valley" stamps and was coloured with my promarkers; blue pearl, cornflower, powder blue, apple, grass, emerald, leaf green, maroon, soft peach, peach, shale, cinnamon, caramel, tan, cool grey 1,2,3,4,5, satin, blush, and dusky pink.

The design papers I have used  are all "Prima Botanicals", the ribbon is a scrap from my stash and the roses from "Wild Orchid Crafts". I made the swirls using beads from an old bracelet.

From Shoe box to Gift box...

**WARNING** Lots of photos

Well I have had an old brown shoe box, lying under my bed gathering dust and today I was inspired to make something with it.

So first of all i coated the box with pva glue and covered it with white copier paper and left to dry. When dry I ripped up some white and gold vellum and some Dove craft Eastern Promise papers and layered them onto the box gluing the edges down with more pva glue.

Then when all the glue had dried I used my gold ink pad to edge the corners of the box and distress the lid, I added some gold embossing powder and heat embossed them, then using my scissors scratched some of it off again to add to the distressed feel. I added some cream crocheted lace (The Ribbon Girl) and cream satin ribbon (stash), some gold gems and iridescent pearls.

I lined the inside of the box with navy blue tissue paper (Ebay). I then added a label to the box lid and jewel and glitter encrusted butterfly (The Ribbon Girl).

The sentiments on the label are from Lili Of The Valley and were stamped in gold and heat embossed. The iridescent beads were recycled from an old bracelet no longer worn and match the glitter on the butterfly.

The Sugar Bowl # 58 Marlena's Sketch

Well I am enjoying my crafty day so far, here is my first make inspired by the sketch at this weeks "Sugar bowl challenge" I had a ratch through my dp folder and found these gorgeous Basic Grey papers and matched the card and embellishments.

Attention To Detail:

This gorgeous image is called "Be One Traveller" by Leanne Ellis at Sugar Nellie and she was coloured with my promarkers: cocktail pink, salmon pink, antique pink, satin, blush, dusky pink, lime green, pear green, cool aqua, powder blue, tan, caramel and cinnamon.

I added some buttons threaded with pink funky fibres and some pink gems for sparkle. I used pink card from  "Papermill shop" for matting and layering.

I have decorated the inside of the card with matching papers, the sentiment stamp is from "lili Of The Valley" and i think it matches the image, she looks like a dreamer to me.

A Right Royal Affair

Whoo hoo I've made my first twisted easel card. They are actually easier than I thought they would be too :) . I wanted to join in with "Crafty Cardmakers" challenge whose theme is "Royal Wedding".
I have not used any design papers on the card and have followed through with a Red, White and Blue theme.

Attention To Detail:

The image is "First Dance" by Sugar Nellie and has been coloured with my promarkers: Navy Blue, Midnight Blue, Crimson Red, Black, Cool grey5, Satin, Blush, Dusky Pink and caramel. The brides dress has been dusted with iridescent glitter for lots of sparkle. The sentiment is by "Lili Of The Valley" and the flags are a "magnolia stamp".

I use some of my lovely ribbons to create the flower embellishments, I looped them over a circle of white card and then attached a button to the centre. The ribbon is all from "The Ribbon Girl".

I embossed the white card with my swiss dots embossing folder and used red card for matting and layering. The image was cut with my classic square nesties and the sentiment with my classic rectangle nesties.

I am also going to enter this card into the following challenges:

With the Warmest of Wishes...

I have been asked to make this card for Leon's Mum who wants to give it to her sister. When I first started out in card making many moons ago, I was heavily into decoupage, but then discovered stamping which has since become my passion. However as this card is for the "older lady" I decided to combine the two.

The decoupaged lady is from "Kanban" and she has been matted and layered onto a dry embossed background created with my birds and swirls embossing folder. She has been embellished with a murano feather, flowers and gems.

The scroll has been stamped and heat embossed with gold powder, it is a Penny Black stamp - 3978K Deco and then each flower has been embellished with green gems. The verses are from Lili Of The Valley - Clear Additions sentiment sheet and were also heat embossed in gold. They read:

"With the warmest of wishes
Here's a note to say
Whatever you do
Have a wonderful day"

"Today's a celebration
And this card is to show
Just how much you mean
and how special
you are to know"

I also opted for a tri fold card as it's a little different from my usual square cards and shows of the main image well.

Sunshine Yellow

Well I'm just back from  a lovely weekend away, we have been over to Newcastle to See Leon's sister and met up with some of his friends. On Sunday we went to Whitley Bay, it was gorgeous 20 degrees and brilliant sunshine.  Thought I'd share this card with you as it sums up my sunny happy mood. I made it on Friday using up scraps and snippets of card and paper.

Attention to detail:

The stamps is "Tilda with flower in hair" from Magnolia and she has been coloured with my promarkers: ivory, primrose, pastel yellow, apricot, cool grey1, tan, sandstone, caramel, satin, blush and dusky pink.

I have been sorting out my ribbon drawer, putting them onto cardboard spools and colour coding them. I have found a few off cuts of this yellow spotted organza ribbon, I have a habit of cutting a ribbon from the middle instead of measuring from the end ! The designs papers are left over Basic Grey Kioshi 12 x 12 and Craft Creations yellow gingham. I have used scraps of yellow card for matting and layering, again i'm terrible for cutting from the middle instead of the edges!  Tilda was cut with my classic square nesties and layered onto my scalloped square nesties.

The atc was made to match the card and i'm loving these. They are perfect for using up off cuts of A4 when cutting my card down to 15cm square blanks.

Inspired again by the clever Jules I'm joining in with her crafty snippets challenge, check out her blog for more details. It's a great way to use up all those left overs :).

Raving about The Ribbon Girl

Hi, I've just gotten home wet, cold and tired but happy and with some gingerbread to have with a cuppa as a guilty treat after me bath lol. Anyway I just wanted to rave about "The Ribbon Girl". I've placed a few orders with them now and always received quick delivery and I adore the little tissue paper packages filled with all kinds of loveliness that come through your door.

Well today's order was no exception, I opened the envelope cast the invoice to one side and impatiently pulled at the ribbon to untie my package. I tipped everything out and noticed at least 3 maybe for extra little bits that I knew I didn't order. So I switched on the lappy and was just about to email and say "these extras are not mine there must've been a mistake" when I decided to read the invoice.

It turns out they were not happy with thee butterflies I ordered and they were not up to their high standards (although the butterflies I received are gorge) and they are removing them from the shop. The extras were to make up for this.

Totally unexpected, but none the less fantastic customer service from them. Keep it up Mary and Andrea, you now have a loyal ribbon and loveliness addicted  customer for life :)

The Colour Purple

Morning all, can't believe it's half way through my first week off...I knew these holidays were gonna fly in! I'm not here today, I'm off walking round Buttermere Lake, then we are calling into Grasmere for some freshly baked, warm gingerbread.

Anyway, this card has been made using scraps of design papers and scraps of card and ribbon. I have followed the good example set by the fabulously talented "Jules" at "Always With a Heart". Every Sunday she sets herself the challenge of only using scraps to make her cards:) .

Attention To Detail:

The image I have used on this card is from Magnolia and is "Tilda with Gingerbread". I have coloured her with my promarkers: Cinnamon, Cocoa, Walnut, Antique Pink, Lilac, Lavender, Amethyst, Cool grey 4,5 and Black.

The papers are scraps of Kanban (butterflies) and Craft Creations and the ribbon was given to me in a swap. I also used scraps of purple card from the Paper Mill Shop. The layout for the card is an old sketch from "The Sketch Saturday Challenge".

Sketch Saturday Challenge # 150

Well I have made this card following the layout at the new "Sketch Saturday" challenge. I used this gorgeous "Mo Manning" image which I received in a stamped image swap so not sure of the exact name.

Attention to Detail:

The image has been coloured with my promarkers: poppy, cardinal red, crimson, sky blue, azure blue, sandstone, caramel, pear green, cool grey 1-5, black, shale, walnut, cocoa, satin, blush and dusky pink. I have highlighted his cheeks with my white Sakura Gel pen.

The papers I have used on this card are all from the "Basic Grey Sugar Rush" range and I matted and layered them onto red and grey card from the papermill shop.

The embossed panels were created with my Argyle embossing folder and cuttlebug, the buttons and ribbons are from my stash and the lovely sentiment is from "Paper Makeup Stamps".
