The Last Thing You Wanted To See LOL :)

Well good afternoon everybody,

I'm sorry I've not posted on my blog for an absolute age, I had planned to have a blogging break over the Christmas Holidays to spend time with loved ones but un beknowns to me and Leon we would both come down with Flu and a really nasty chest infection a piece on Christmas Eve. We've both been in bed for a week, had no Christmas dinner and only just opened presents yesterday. We've both had the emergency doctor out and are on penicillin so a quiet New Year for us lol.

Anyway enough waffle, I was inspired to make a card this afternoon whilst watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks...unfortunately for you it is in fact a dreaded Christmas Card.  I've used this gorgeous Saturated Canary stamp and coloured her with my promarkers: satin, blush, sunkissed pink, tan, caramel, cool grey 1,2,3, black, henna, burnt sienna, umber, forest green, olive green, gold, crimson and burgundy.

I've highlighted her with my white gel pen and my clear stardust pen.  The papers are called "Frankincense - Kaisercraft Twig & Berry Collection". The sentiment stamp is Lili of the Valley and the jute twine, mesh and flowers are all from the Ribbon Girl.

I have decorated the inside of the card with matching papers and have made a tissue lined box. I am determined that 2013 I will make at least one Christmas card per fortnight and not  be left rushing them out at the last minute and hating them like I was this year...nearly contemplated buying some SHOCK!

Anyway hope you are all well and have a good start to the new year.

Thanks for looking.

Eclectic Ellapu challenge # 10 - Anything Goes

Good Morning,
Whooo Hoooo school closed on Friday and I have 3 weeks holiday :) . Also today is the day for the new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and this week it's a special challenge as it will run for 3 weeks and the theme is  Challenge # 10 - ANYTHING GOES and both the Pink and Purple teams are participating in this one so lots of gorgeous talent and inspirational projects on display.  .

I wold like to share this Ruby Wedding card I was asked to make. I did not use any stamps on this card, just made use of die cuts and embossing folders.

The poem was taken from a free website and printed in ruby ink to match the card used for matting and layering.  The sentiment was also computer generated. I added white liquid pearls to the oustide edge of the card and a touch of silver pearl to the red heart.

I use an old Cuttlebug die to create the hearts, wanting them to depict the "Bride and Groom". I embossed and glittered the white heart.
Simple but effective.

Be sure to check out the fabulous work from my fellow Eclectics and why not enter your own project.

Santa Paws - Eclectic Ellapu challenge #8

Good Morning everybody,

Here we are with challenge 8 over at Eclectic Ellapu and this weeks theme is "Santa Paws and Snowflakes" chosen by the lovely Jacki and it's the turn of the Purple Team :). We want to see your Christmas cuties of the four legged variety. I have chosen my "Tatty Ted" stamp to make this gift set consisting of : card, bottle cuff and vanilla scented candle.

Card:

This was made using scraps of design papers and scraps of card. The sentiment is a Penny Black Stamp which I just adore. The snowflakes were made with a Marianne Creatables die and the embossing made with my swiss dots and snowflake embossing folders. The buttons from my stash.

Bottle Cuff:

Made with an off cut of card, used a circle nestie to create the aperture. Decorated with matching papers to the card and stickles for a little Christmas sparkle.

Candle:

Snowflake buttons are from my stash and the gorgeous ribbon was given to me in a swap. The teddy was stickled before heat sealing him into the candle.

Well thanks for visiting my blog, why not pop over to Eclectic Ellapu and check out my fantastic teamies creations, and take on the challenge yourself  :) .

Thank you - You're Bloody Brilliant

Evening all, a quick post from me to let you all know that my other half Leon is now on the mend. A week ago Friday he was rushed to hospital with suspected internal bleeding. When he got to A&E they diagnosed bleeding ulcer and operated within an hour. Turns out after having NO symptoms or warning signs at all, he had TWO ulcers, one bleeding the second about to burst. The surgeons said his body had started to shut down and he lost a lot of blood and fluid. He had a blood transfusion 4 pints and fluids and was allowed home on Monday this week.

The Dr's, Nurses, Surgeons, Porters, Health Care Assistants, Radiographers, Pharmacists and Lab Staff at the WEST CUMBERLAND HOSPITAL (Whitehaven) are fantastic. They are Angels and I am so grateful to them for the care Leon received and for saving his life.

Also to all you lovely guys and gals (Myself included) who regularly donate blood, Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, you also helped to save Leon's life.

The cards above along with tins of sweets are for the hospital staff, we will take them in next week. Leon is getting his strength back bit by bit and is on the mend, so hopefully my crafting will resume this week as I've been looking after him.

Anyway Thanks for looking, catch up with you all soon :) .

Figgy Pudding - Eclectic Ellapu Challenge # 6

Thank God for Scheduled posts lol :).
Good Morning everyone, well it's Sunday and that means it's time for Challenge #6 over at Eclectic Ellapu.
The very talented Abigail has chosen this weeks theme "Layering/Openable/Interactive". I decided to go with a Christmas card using this gorgeous "LOTV" stamp.

I have paper pieced part of the image and coloured the rest with my promarkers: Tan, Caramel, Cinnamon, Crimson, Burgundy, Forest Green, Emerald Green, Blush, Cool Grey 1 to 5, Satin and Dusky Pink. I highlighted their cheeks with my white gel pen.

I have added lots of layers of scraps of old Christmas papers to this card, edging all the layers with my Diamond Stickles.

I also have a hidden sentiment tag hidden behind the stamped image. This is found by gently pulling the bow and charms to the side. The sentiment used on the tag is by Penny Black. The ribbon, charms and buttons are all from my stash.

I also decorated the inside of the card with matching papers.
Why not pop over to our blog and check out my fellow purple teamies creations, they will knock your socks off.

Lest We Forget

They shall not grow old, as we that are left shall grow old.
Age shall not weary them, or the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them.

We will remember them.

I am a strong supporter of Remembrance Sunday/Armistice Day. My Gran was in the army during WWII working the lights at Biggin Hill Aerodrome. My Dad was in the army, he served in the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment and had postings in Belfast in the early 70's. Leon my Fiance served in the Royal Navy as a Submariner and my Brother wears a Police Uniform everyday at work and was involved in the Whitehaven Shootings two years ago. They make me proud, seeing my Dad in his Vets uniform ready to march makes me proud too.

The men and women who have fallen, the men and women who have returned from conflict injured and the men and women who have returned from conflict safely deserve our support, respect and every prayer bestowed upon them.

It's A Vintage Thing - Eclectic Ellapu Challenge # 4

Morning everyone,
I can't believe we are already on challenge number 4 over at Eclectic Ellapu and this week it's the turn of us Purples. Our theme has been chosen by the lovely Sandra and it's "It's a Vintage Thing". I have made this birthday card for my Auntie, when she was a little girl she used to dress the pet cats up in bonnets and matinee jackets and take them out in her dolls pram.

I had to use this digi for her card, I thought of her as soon as I seen it. I've coloured it with my promarkers trying to create a vintage sepia photograph effect. I highlighted the image with my white gel pen.
The fancy corners were created with my fleur de lys nesties.

The flowers are a mixture of brown and cream and the liquid pearls are in platinum. I've added the pearls to the butterflies and the photo corners.

The sentiment is an old Penny Black stamp but has been so useful, purrrrfect for this card I thought.
