Hello...Still Here

Hello, O.M.G it's been so log since i last posted to my blog i almost forgot what to do. I have bee so busy in the last 6 or 7 months. As you know i was made redundant from my old job and got a new full time job at my local Hospital, which has seen me working Christmas Day and Boxing day for the first time. Anyway i am now on some much needed leave and have finally gotten round to dusting off the old blog again.

Hope you are all well???

Anyway I wanted to share this card made for my nephew Duncan who has just turned 18. it's a pop out fold card in steampunk style.

It is something new I am trying out and i absolutely adore the finished effect, i love the way all parts of the card move creating a kaleidoscope effect. I cannot remember who the papers are by, but i used my dies and steampunk embossing folders and lots and lots of gold embossing.

I have really enjoyed the challenge of the fold of this card.

The sentiments were computer generated and the ribbon is from my stash.

Thanks for looking. Promise to visit you all soon.

New Job - New Chapter

"Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened".Dr Seuss

So....St Bees School closed it's door for the final time on Friday, The end of 432 years of education.
A sad day, an emotional day, it has been an interesting 5 years working there.

However....I start my new job today, with North Cumbria University Hospitals N.H.S Trust, as a Catering Assistant at my local hospital.

Today is the start of my induction training, A new chapter in my life, a new road to travel.

I'm excited and nervous and still a little sad.

Please join me in a toast:

R.I.P. St Bees School 1583-2015 and to all who studied, taught and worked within those walls.
Good luck and Godspeed.

Trinket Box

Good Evening everyone,
I wanted to share this project with you all made for the "Scrappers Delight Blog - June Challenge" and "Scrappers Delight Facebook Group - June Challenge" which is an altered art challenge. I decided to up-cycle an old box my mobile phone came in. I got to use up lots of scraps of card, paper, ribbon and lace and used some larger flowers from deep within my craft stash.

I have used the "Magnolia Tilda With Daisy" stamp and have coloured her with "Derwent Inktense Pencils" and highlighted her with my white paint pen. She has been cut out with nesties. The sentiment is from "Pink Petticoat" digi stamps.

All the flowers have been heat embossed with crystal powder to add a bit of sparkle. All edges of the box have been heat embossed with gold ink and powder.

The tulle, buttons, gold twine, brown twine and resin lock are all from "Live Love Crafts". The flowers are all from the "Ribbon Girl" and the ruffled trim is from my local craft shop "Haven Crafts".

I've really enjoyed making this project.

Thank you for visiting me.

Go Confidently In The Direction Of Your Dreams

Good Morning,
Well it's all change in my life at the moment, the school closes it's doors next Friday 3rd July and I start my new job on the 6th July. So I've been inspired by recent goings on to make this card. Using a Saturated  Canary digi that I've had printed out and uncoloured for ages and a sentiment from pink petticoat digi stamps.

I have coloured the image with my Derwent Inktense Pencils and highlight with a white paint marker. I'm watching tutorials on you tube for colouring tips as I'm still new to these pencils, but I'm really starting to enjoy them and have hunted out lots of images Ive got printed out and stored away, eager to breathe life and colour into them.

The design papers are scraps and off cuts from my scraps box, the pink pearls are from deep down in my craft stash and the tulle is from live love crafts.

Good Afternoon,
I've had a bit of a creative flow going on these last few days, I have up cycled a wooden frame and made a matching card.
I have used a "Lili Of The Valley" stamp and coloured it with "Inktense" pencils.

The papers are from my stash and cannot remember the name sorry, the tulle and pearl hearts are from "Live Love Crafts".  The flowers, buttons and twine are from the "Ribbon Girl".  The sentiments are from "Pink Petticoat".

I have left room to add personalisation's to both card and frame, the image in the frame can eventually be replaced with a photo of the happy couple.

Thanks for looking.

Poop Happens

In my case poop certainly does happen. Well sorry I've not blogged anything in such a long time, but real life gets in the way sometimes. The school I work at is definitely closing on July 3rd and I'm loosing my job. Very sad news, especially as the school is over 432 years old :(.

Anyway, wanted to share this card with you all, made with a "Mo Manning" digi - "Poop Happens". I have coloured the image with my "Derwent Inktense Pencils" (still need lots of practise with these).

I have used a selection of "Dove Craft" papers for the inside and the outside. The Ribbons and flowers were from "The Ribbon Girl" and the wobbly eyes are from deep down in my stash pile lol.

The sentiments were computer generated. Something a little different to ease me back into crafting. I will be making another 4 of these to hand out at work before we leave.

Thanks to anyone who visits me.

Save St Bees School #savestbeesschool

Well, as some of you may know form previous blog posts, I work at "St Bees School" and last Friday 13th March we were dropped the biggest unexpected bombshell that the school is to close 4th July 2015. There has been a fall in pupil numbers This means they cannot sustainable run the school anymore.

This is completely devastating and heartbreaking for us all and I feel as though I have been grieving for the last week. We have received an overwhelming response from the community local, national and internationally.

The pupils have made this video stating what the school means to them, please watch and share:

We have received support from famous old boys Stuart Lancaster and Rowan Atkinson, and there is a "Rescue St Bees School Group" set up to try and come up with a viable business plan to save the school, they need to raise 2million to sustain the school for 2 years and the current funds raised stands at £250 K in just over a week.

This is very overwhelming, when I have to continue to work with the children on a daily basis, faced with the uncertainty of whether I will be facing the dole queue this summer.

Currently having some time out. Lost my mojo, light on orders and truth be told swimming is taking over my life. I am participating in the "Swimathon" for Marie Curie in April, so in full training mode.

Still check in with you all for inspiration from time to time. I'm loosing followers left, right and centre lol, so if anyone is reading this, then thank you.

Birthday Bunting

Good Afternoon,

Hope everyone is well, I have another card to share with you, been practising with my "inktense Pencils". Got this gorgeous "Tilda" in the "Bunny Zoe's" sale and the papers too.

I have decoupaged parts of "Tilda" to add some depth to the card, cut her out with my nesties. The bunting is a "La La Land" die.

The sentiment stamp is a digi from "Pink Petticoat Stamps" and reads "find joy in everything".
Thanks for looking.

New Year - New Creative Challenges

Happy New Year Everybody,
Hope 2015 brings you all good health and happiness. For me it's also a chance to expand my creativity and step away from just cards. So today I want to share this door hanger with you.

I bought it plain wood for 99p at my local craft shop. I have decorated it with papers from the "Graphic 45 - Raining Cats and Dogs" papers.

I adore the vintage images, fonts and prints. I have embellished the door hanger with paper roses and beads from "The Ribbon Girl". I have distressed the edges of all papers and card used.

I have also decorated the reverse of the hanger.

I've enjoyed making this and look forward to doing many more in the future.

Thanks for looking, short and sweet.
